Opel Belgium Millennium Express
In 1999, after 29 exhibition days in various German cities, the Opel Millennium Express was presented at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) before embarking on a two-year European tour – representing just one of several special events and activities marking one hundred years of Opel cars
The world’s longest exhibition train, extending 280 meters, focused on global trends of the 20th century and their impact on automotive technology and the mobility of tomorrow
The exterior of the Opel Millennium Express was transformed by prominent photographers into a rolling picture book of a sort never seen before in the history of railroading, caused a sensation at railroad stations and between stops
Opel Belgium employed Eleven3 to organize the train’s visit to Belgium, which included a special challenge: the train was exhibited at the Zuiderterras in Antwerp, some distance away from any actual railroad track
Consequently, each of the 14 cars was transported via the Scheldt River and hoisted ashore by crane
